What is Charlotte’s food history, and can we keep it alive in a transplant city? Join us at our next #discussCLT to discuss the past and future of our city’s culinary culture. Enjoy complimentary appetizers, as well as beer and wine from Lenny Boy Brewing Co., as we discuss Charlotte's food scene with our expert panel.

 Panelists

Bruce Moffett was formally trained at The Culinary Institute of America (CIA). He worked in the kitchens of two of Boston’s most prestigious restaurants, before moving to Charlotte in 2000 to open Barrington’s Restaurant. In 2009, he was a semi-finalist for the James Beard Foundation’s Best Chef: Southeast award, and in the same year he opened Good Food on Montford, followed by his third concept, Stagioni, in 2013.

 

 

 

 

 

Katy Kindred

As one half of the husband/wife duo behind Kindred in Davidson, NC, Katy Kindred wears many hats as owner, designer, sommelier, and general manager. Together, she and her husband, Joe Kindred, foster a dining environment that epitomizes hospitality and community. Katy and Joe were also named 2016 Charlotteans of the Year for their work in Charlotte's restaurant industry, and for bringing national attention to the city's restaurant scene.

 

 

 

 

 

Frank Scibelli

A trailblazer on the Charlotte restaurant scene, FS Food Group founder Frank Scibelli has a proven reputation for picking up on what the local scene lacks, then over-delivering time after time. FS Food Group’s carefully crafted restaurant concepts (Mama Ricotta’s, Paco’s Tacos & Tequila, Midwood Smokehouse, YAFO Kitchen, Midwood Smokeshack) each have their own identities but have the united mission of always providing consistent, authentic fare at a great value, served with care in an inviting, fast-casual environment.

 

 

 Brent Barbee is a fifth generation farmer who owns Barbee Farms in Concord, NC. He employees 8 farm hands to help with the work load and his farm supplies to local grocery stores like Harris Teeter.
