15-day Vancouver Island /Nootka Island Backpacking for High School Girls - Ashland, OR 2026

From August 1st – August 15th, 2026, a group of high SCHOOL GIRLS, and the facilitators, old co guides and dear friends, Maya and Tess are setting out on a diverse and multi layered adventure along the lands of VANCOUVER ISLAND, the westernmost flank of British Columbia, Canada. After arriving to the wild remote VANCOUVER ISLAND, we are brought by float plane to NOOTKA ISLAND, an ISLAND OFF THE WESTERN COAST OF VANCOUVER ISLAND ONLY ACCESSIBLE BY BOAT OR PLANE. The group will hike the length of its pacific shore and through the headlands of pristine maritime environment. The group will synch with the rhythms of this land, tracking the tides, listening to the orchestra of the wildlife, and moving together as one habitat, slowly becoming more in tune and comfortable with one another and the land they are meeting. Along breathtaking views, the coastal trek walks along side the beaches and rocky shores as the trail weaves in and out of the headlands. Personal growth on this Rite of Passage trip is headlined by a 48-hour solo in this gorgeous place. This is along side of pivotal group and individual spaces that emphasize the topics around relationships, values, needs, adolescent hood, past choices, learning ones voice and responsibilities, identifying inspirations, practicing regulation tools, and speaking to identity tied up in what it is like to be in a female body in this current society. There is a reason why why woman gather in circle together-through this trip this understanding will ripple out through everyone to feel in some way. To be witnessed by others, to be reflected back great strengths and joys, and to choose to be courageous through vulnerability is the start of this rich and complex trip. We are not here to and cannot, make this journey of life alone… we are here to learn how to be among each other.
