After years of struggling with her weight, Stacey decided to take charge of her life and regain control over that which had taken control over her. In 2011 she embarked upon a personal journey to become fit, fabulous and free. Her journey has led to a 60lb (and counting) weight loss and a new found passion for fitness and exercise.
On February 2, 2012 Stacey became a licensed Zumba Instructor. She now teaches classes twice a week and will be adding more days and times to her teaching schedule to expose more people to her new found passion...ZUMBA!!!
In November 2011, she joined the Facebook group page, Black Girls Run - Philly, and as a result of the encouragement and support she received from the group, she completed her first 5K race on March 18, 2012.
Stacey began blogging about her journey in October 2011 (www.Comealivein365.blogspot.com) as a way to hold herself accountable. As a result of her daily documentation of the challenges and victories, ups and downs she experiences, she has inspired others to follow suit.
She also started and now facilitates a 16-week weight loss/fitness motivation class, "Weight No More". The program is designed to give participants motivation, inspiration, prayer and accountability as they embark upon their own journey.
Stacey has a burden for women who are struggling with their weight, and self-esteem. It is her personal goal and mission to help those who want to be helped by encouraging and inspiring them to get moving and to take control of their lives.
The scripture that keeps her going when the going gets tough is 1 Corinthian 9:27 I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified.
