_SESSION ONE: FUNDAMENTALS OF STRATEGIC PLANNING_
This session reviews the concepts of strategic planning, how to
develop a sustainable competitive advantage for an organization and
implementation. Other topics include:
* Understanding what strategy and strategic planning means to an
organization.
* Learn how strategy moves from concept through implementation to
realization.
* Recognizing techniques companies use to assess their current and
future environments, which includes environmental scanning and
strategic analysis.
* Learning how strategy creates value for customers and
stakeholders.
_SESSION TWO: BALANCING LONG-TERM AND SHORT-TERM STRATEGY_
This session includes an interactive exercise that presents a rich
opportunity to observe, analyze, and critique intra-group dynamics and
strategic decision-making skills. During the exercise, participants
will experience the challenge of balancing long-term and short-term
strategy while studying how leaders behave in strategic situations,
negotiate, analyze the competition, and process information coming
from external sources. In short, participants are challenged as
leaders, and the simulation will test everyones critical thinking
acumen.
_SESSION THREE: CREATING THE STRATEGIC PLAN_
The final session combines proven-by-practice methods of developing a
strategic plan. Participants will gain a broader perspective of the
strategic planning process through breakout sessions, exercises, and
case applications. Other topics reviewed include:
* Developing and managing the strategic plan process.
* Using case studies to examine the strategic planning process.
* Aligning an organization with strategic planning goals by
integrating strategy, objectives, metrics, and performance.
