Pedro José Pastrana is a music creator blending Puerto Rican folk
jíbaro music into the Latin jazz tradition. His two albums as a
leader, Crónicas de la pierna inquieta and Lo que nos llevamos
present original compositions and arrangements featuring the Puerto
Rican cuatro as the lead instrument. As a sideman, Pedro has redefined
the versatility of the Puerto Rican cuatro in Latin Jazz by working
with artists like John Santos, the Spanish Harlem Orchestra, and the
Oakland Symphony. He is a graduate of the California Jazz
Conservatory.
