Queer Tango Dance Weekend with Ezgi in Oakland

Join us for a Queer Tango Weekend with visiting tango teacher Ezgi, February 15-16 at the Dome! On both days, we have a dance workshop or workshops, followed by a milonga (tango social dance)!

Schedule:

Saturday, February 15th

7:00 pm-8:15 pm: Tango dance workshop with Ezgi: Playing with double beats

8:15 pm - midnight: Milonga (tango social dance) with DJ Cat with performance by Carrie Field and Ezgi

Workshop: $25 pre-register, or $30 at the door
Milonga: $20 pre-register, or $25 at the door

Sunday, February 16th

Tango workshop 1: 3:30 pm-4:45 pm: Rhythmic combinations and necessary technique for rhythmic music in Vals

Tango workshop 2: 5:00 pm-6:15 pm: Milonga technique and variations

Milonga with DJ Andres: 6:15 pm-9:00 pm with traditional and nuevo tunes!

Each workshop: $25 pre-register, or $30 at the door
The Sunday milonga is free with purchase of a workshop, or $10.
Cost for all events in the weekend (3 workshops; 2 milongas): $95 in advance or $115 at the door

TranscendTango is a new Trans Tango organization run by Andrés Ozzuna & Kit Cat.

Ezgi Turmus started to tango in Istanbul University Dance Club in 2004. She was interested in both roles of tango and has expertise dancing and performing as a leader and follower. Ezgi returned to Samsun and founded her own community, TangoSam. Ezgi has trained in Buenos Aires and performed at multiple international tango festivals, including the Miami Queer Tango Festival and Berlin Queer Tango Festival in 2024.
